Dr. Theodore John “Ted” Kaczynski, (born May 22, 1942) also known as the “Unabomber” is a Neo-Luddite, anarcho-primitivist, social critic, and mathematician who excelled, academically, so well from an early age that he was accepted into Harvard University at 16 years old. He earned an undergraduate degree, and later earned a PHD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He later became an assistant professor at UC Berkeley at age 25, the youngest professor ever hired by the university.

This man saw no other choice within every fiber of his being than to commit the acts that he did- he left his potential career for a life of autonomy and self- sufficiency but saw clearly that this is in no way possible due to industry and development. The secluded area of Lincoln, Montana where he chose to live in Nature and build his Thoreau cabin was not far enough away from the destruction of wild land.
From an interview with the Earth First! Journal in 1999, while incarcerated in Colorado’s supermax prison in Florence, Colorado-
“The best place, to me, was the largest remnant of this plateau that dates from the tertiary age. It’s kind of rolling country, not flat, and when you get to the edge of it you find these ravines that cut very steeply in to cliff-like drop-offs and there was even a waterfall there. It was about a two days hike from my cabin. That was the best spot until the summer of 1983. That summer there were too many people around my cabin so I decided I needed some peace. I went back to the plateau and when I got there I found they had put a road right through the middle of it” His voice trails off; he pauses, then continues, “You just can’t imagine how upset I was. It was from that point on I decided that, rather than trying to acquire
further wilderness skills, I would work on getting back at the system. Revenge. That wasn’t the first time I ever did any monkeywrenching , but at that point, that sort of thing became a priority for me… I made a conscious effort to read things that were relevant to social issues, specifically the technological problem. For one thing, my concern was to understand how societies change, and for that purpose I read anthropology, history, a little bit of sociology and psychology, but mostly anthropology and history.”

Ted broke the fence of his corral and chose to do what he must as a direct message against the hope for reform in regard to technological industry and its enslavement of not only all humanity but all life, all beings.

In an excerpt, from FC to Scientific American,
1995, Ted had this to say: “The engineers who initiated the
industrial revolution can be forgiven for not having anticipated
its negative consequences. But the harm caused by
technological progress is by this time sufficiently apparent
so that to continue to promote it is grossly irresponsible.”

In an interview with the Earth First! Journal in 1999, while incarcerated in Colorado’s supermax prison in Florence he said, “I read Edward Abbey in mid-eighties and that was one of the things that gave me the idea that, ‘yeah, there are other people out there that have the same attitudes that I do.’ I read The Monkeywrench Gang, I think it was. But what first motivated me wasn’t anything I read. I just got mad seeing the machines ripping up the woods and so forth…“

In a letter to Earth First! “This is a message from FC. The F.B.I. calls us Unabom.
We are the people who recently assassinated the president of
the California Forestry Association.”

As stated earlier here, everything that we were told, or that we think we know, needs much closer examination. And the “Unabomber” case is no exception. Its relevance to the problems of this future- which ALL life has been penned into- is of particular importance, because as long as this system of technological industry is allowed to continue there will be no end to the horrors it brings in its wake: animal (and plant) species extinction, poisoning of water and food supplies, exploitation of the entire planet and all of its resources. (There is no end to this list) The many horrors of t.i. will not cease until it has ALL been utterly depleted, mined, quarried, murdered, raped. A look at its record sadly proves it.
To have hope in some kind of reform by peaceful means, or some change in consciousness, or any other solution by way of alternative energies or a change in leadership within either wings of this dead bird of artificiality, is folly. The truth of it is that the more pacified the masses become, by the enslavement that the comfort of the industrial revolution has wrought, nothing will change.
Just as the Revolution won’t be televised it won’t be initiated through social networking. It will only be neutralized, debated, debased.
And all of us with a blog or a FB page who are trying to establish or further an awakening among those who are asleep, or in most cases already dead, can complain, point, add up facts, counter others, bring attention to the worldly problems of war, occupation, empire, or bring attention to the worlds so-called solutions of alternative ways of living, or petitions to save a species of animal or plant, till the air runs out but we are only living in a nightmare/dream that the dead created.
The internet is not used as a tool for knowing or rallying- it has become mostly a form of self-promotion and entertainment. There is more self gratification involved in these areas of awareness-raising than there is a sincere desire for change. It is ultimately a tool for psychological and social retardation and manipulation, never-mind “dumbing down”, complacency, monitoring, and surveillance. It is a divining tool for the systems of power to foresee how to enslave all beings even further- only.
A form of world dictatorship, as a friend told me recently.

Even if our intentions are pure in the use of these tools, as the method to bring about social change, we still perpetuate what we claim to be in opposition of- which is the destruction of the Natural World.
A Nature that all beings have equal right to.
And I should add, so as to not be hypocritical, that I use a vehicle, and fill it with gas to travel, and I use the internet as a convenient form of communication and entertainment, I run electricity, etc. It is only for means of establishing proper context as to the purpose of this post that I write this-
And it is only through my grief and disgust that I am here within this net at all.
Awaken. And let the dead bury the dead.
